Welcome to a New Era of Healing in St. Thomas

Opening mid-August 2025 at the Romeo Malone Community Center, the St. Thomas Recovery Café at Savan is a sanctuary for resilience, peer-led healing, and community-powered recovery. Operated by Community Action NOW! (CAN), this café is part of the Recovery Café Network and will be the first of its kind in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

💠 Our Why

To create a supportive, inclusive environment where individuals on the path of recovery—whether from trauma, disaster recovery,  substance use, grief, or life transitions—can build relationships, rediscover their strengths, and move forward together.

💬 Who We Serve

Our doors are open to adults (18+) in the St. Thomas community who are on a journey of recovery, including:

  • Survivors of trauma and sexual abuse
  • Individuals recovering from addiction and mental health challenges

  • Homeless or housing-insecure residents
  • Veterans and justice-involved individuals

🌍 Why It Matters

📣 Be Part of the Movement

🧠 Our Recovery Philosophy

  • 21.7% of residents live below the poverty line

  • More than 1 in 4 adults report symptoms of anxiety or depression

  • In March 2019, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. declared a state of emergency for behavioral health in the USVI.

With formal services overstretched, peer-led recovery groups are vital. The Recovery Café model provides consistent, peer-based support and structure—fostering connection, hope, and healing in a community that needs it most.

🧠 Our Recovery Philosophy

📣 Be Part of the Movement

🧠 Our Recovery Philosophy

  • Recovery is possible for everyone

  • Recovery is self-defined and community-powered

  • Belonging, consistency, and compassion fuel transformation

  • We meet people where they are—and walk with them forward
