Itinerary*:
- Day 1 - SUN Sept 17: Kotoka International Airport (Accra) arrivals, meet and greet. After arrival formalities and baggage pick-up, the representative from Elevation Tours will meet you and depart to the hotel where you will be welcomed by drum and dance group, hotel staff, have welcome drink, and Orientation. Check into your rooms.

- Day 2 - MON Sept 18: ACCRA CITY TOUR After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Accra. You will drive through the Economic and administrative district of Accra, the capital of Ghana. The city has a Combination of colonial and contemporary architecture that sums up it rich history. Visit the W.E.B Dubois Centre for Pan-African Culture. You will continue the Tour driving through old Accra and visit Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park the final resting place of the first President of Ghana and learn about his influence in Africa and the world during the civil rights and the struggle for Independence. After this experience, we will visit the Art and cultural center for shopping opportunities and visit the Artist Alliance Gallery to view Artwork from renowned artists from the continent of Africa. We will return to the hotel and get prepared for dinner.

- Day 3 - TUE Sept 19: KUMASI / MANHYIA PALACE / PREMPEH MUSEUM After breakfast, check out. Embark on a drive through some historical towns to Kumasi, capital of the Ashanti Region. The city of Kumasi will offer you monuments of legendary Kings and Warriors of the Ashanti state as you drive through. You will visit both the Prempeh Museum and Manhyia Palace where you will receive first-hand information on the exploits and legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. Ashanti history, which dates back to the 1700, is told with relics and artifacts.

- Day 4 - WED Sept 20: CRAFT VILLAGE TOURS/INTRODUCTION TO NTONSU After breakfast, you will depart the hotel and visit Bonwire Weaving village for colorful kente cloth woven for the Kings and Queen Mothers of the Ashanti Kingdom. You might be selected to try weaving a kente cloth after seeing a demonstration of the intricate weaving technique. You will visit Ntonsu for a formal introduction to the Ashanti Kingdom which will be followed by a demonstration of adinkra Print cloth. After this experience, you will visit Ahwiaa, for wood carvings and visit the Cultural Center, for the opportunity to buy directly from the artisans who make a variety of items – wood carvings, fabric, baskets, paintings, jewelry and clothing.

- Day 5 - THU Sept 21: A DAY AT NTONSU After breakfast, the rest of the day will be spent at Ntonsu

- Day 6 - FRI Sept 22: LAST BATH / CENTRAL REGION After breakfast, check out. Depart and visit Assin Manso Slave River historical site. This is the site which was opened in 1994 to celebrate Emancipation Day when two enslaved descendant
bodies from the Diaspora (one from the USA and one from Jamaica) were brought back to Africa.

- Day 7 - SAT Sept 23: CAPE COAST/ ELMINA CASTLE After breakfast, you will depart to Cape Coast the former capital of the Gold Coast and Visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653; which was later taken over by the British. History will unfold the story of the slave trade, where the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Explore the grounds of this infamous castle with its slave dungeon. Every part of the castle has historical significance. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian
Government in 1994. This is the Castle that President Obama and his family visited in 2009. You will continue your tour and Visit the Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482 and remains as the first European building built south of the Sahara.

- Day 8 - SUN Sept 24: KAKUM NATIONAL PARK/ WALKING TOUR OF ELMINA After breakfast, depart to the Kakum National Park, West Africa`s most noted tropical rain forest. Experience the soothing effects of being in a tropical forest to discover the wide variety of exotic flora species and the medicinal values they offer. Take a walk on the tree top canopy
walkway, 100 feet above the forest floor. Take a walk through the historical fishing village of Elmina. Free Afternoon ~ Relax at the Coconut Beach Resort, Enjoy the Crocodile Ponds, Horse Back Riding and other activities at this lovely resort.

- Day 9 - MON Sept 25: ACCRA/ SHOPPING Check out after breakfast. Depart to Accra and use the rest of the day for shopping.

- Day 10 - TUES Sept 26: DEPARTURES Depending on your departure time you will be transferred to the airport.

- Washcloth because most hotels don’t give guest washcloth
- European electrical systems are used in Ghana, so please bring adapters (220v) for phones and other electronics.
- Consider bringing T-Shirts (especially with American sports logos); any digital electronics, jeans, sneakers, baseball caps, toiletries, lipstick, nail polish and perfumes as these items are always great bartering.
- Bring snacks with you because you might not always find food during long rides between destinations.
- A copy of your Passport information page (this is VERY helpful if you should lose your passport!).
Health Advisories:
- Before you leave your home country, please get the required Yellow Fever vaccinations.
- You should also see your doctor to get malaria tablets.
- Bring plenty of insect repellent and sun tanning lotion. Bring all your must have prescription medicine needed during the trip.
- You will be walking a lot in very hot weather, so bring a hat and comfortable walking shoes.
- Sanitary conditions in most places (bathrooms, restaurants etc.) and not always up to Western standards or what you are accustomed to, so please bring handy-wipes and bacteria hand wash.

- Please make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return travel date i.e. March 2024. If not, we recommend renewing your passport before traveling.
- A visa is required for entry to Ghana for all American citizens. It is YOUR responsibility to obtain a visa for entrance into Ghana. The Ghanian government can change visa requirements at any time.
